FLOWFORGE® forged rods and billets are primarily used for drop forging, as well as for free-form forging.
FLOWFORGE® offers several advantages by circumventing the extrusion process: | No texture in a longitudinal direction, i.e. smooth structure
| | Better shaping properties and therefore better mould filling as pressed pre-material
| | Excellent machining properties
| | Higher durability
| | Much higher recrystallisation resistance / larger process window (no coarse grain formation) | The mechanical values in forged pieces made from cast rods are almost identical to those of pressed pre-material, i.e. the standard values are retained. In special requirements, the composition and the final heat treatment can be adjusted.
