An aluminium comb as an energy absorbing link between the upper main chassis beam and the wing should help avoid serious head injuries in the case of an accident. The table below shows typical impact values for the developed deformation element:
A child’s head (3.5 kg / 35 km/h) requires an installed height of 30 mm.
An adult’s head (4.8 kg / 40 km/h) requires an installed height of 60 mm.
Here, an HIC <= 800 for a child's head and an HIC <=1600 for an adult's head was achieved.
