SILAFONT®-14 is a near-eutectic aluminium-silicon alloy manufactured from virgin aluminium, with excellent mould filling and good flow properties. It can be injected well and exhibits no tendency to warm cracking. It can therefore be processed in all known mould casting processes.
The higher iron content compared to SILAFONT® – 13 is compensated for by balanced manganese additives. The mechanical properties achieved through these measures are so good that SILAFONT® – 14 can be described as being a universal alloy for the manufacture of complicated, pressure-tight as well as vibration and impact-proof parts. However, for extreme requirements on the mechanical properties, preference should be given to the low-iron alloy SILAFONT® – 13. SILAFONT® – 14 can be welded well |
