Saving weight also of commercial vehicles becomes more and more important today. To make Euro 6 targets reachable it is necessary to develop more efficient engines, to think about exhaust aftertreatment (SCR-Systems) and to give thought to light weight constructions.
Alutech Lend is an accepted supplier of air pressure tank systems made out of Aluminium for the commercial vehicles and adds with this material to reduce for this part of the truck or trailer weight.
The aluminium air pressure tanks made by SAG have 20 to 50% less weight in comparison with steel. But this is not enough for SAG. So the engineers of SAG were thinking about the mounting system for the air pressure tanks. Usually many trucks or trailers are using for their systems straps. The advantage: flexibility. But there are also disadvantages like high weight (approx. 3,5 kg by using steel, 2,48 kg by using aluminium), deformability and of course the high price.
SAG has developed the patented C-bar profile. The advantage of this system is the less weight, flexible and quick assembly, flexible longitudinal assembly, corrosion resistance and cost benefit not only by reduction of parts.
The principle of the C-bar profile is easy: the profile is welded on the air pressure tank. By using a T-shaped sliding block it is possible to mount the system directly (vertically or horizontally) on the truck or trailer frame.
In case of bad accessibility, mounting is possible with an adapter plate. Flexible assembling of various diameters is possible due to the properties of the profile, thus universally applicable.
Assembly without deformation and the system can be combined with other aluminium profile systems (e.g. item-profiles).
So SAG makes another contribution to reduce the weight of trucks incl. their trailers and reduction of emissions.
