Ready to enter new markets – USA, Japan, South Korea

The North American market offers enormous growth opportunities: With two sites in Mexico, SAG is already strongly represented in this region. Mexico is the world’s seventh largest automobile producer and at the same time the fourth largest export nation in the automotive sector. Japan and South Korea are further markets that could offer the Austrian automotive supplier a lot of potential.

The Salzburger Aluminium Group (SAG) is one of the world’s leading producers of aluminium diesel tanks – and an innovative pioneer in the development of ecologically sustainable tank systems. A pilot project for the implementation of market-ready tanks for liquid hydrogen is currently underway. With the highly efficient Liquid Natural Gas (LNG) tanks and the rheocasting process optimised to the highest standards, SAG has set new standards in the last few years for environmentally friendly and at the same time economical cryogenic tank technology. This expertise opens up interesting market opportunities for SAG in highly developed countries and encourages expansion into new markets.

North America

The North American market offers enormous growth opportunities: With two production sites in Mexico, SAG is strongly represented in a region that is strategically important for this zone: Mexico is the world’s seventh largest automobile producer and at the same time the fourth largest export nation in the automotive sector – with low wage levels. “The North American Free Trade Agreement NAFTA – in future: USMCA – gives us access to the economic area in North America from Mexico, where we will also be present with a sales office in the coming months”, says Karin Exner-Wöhrer, CEO of the SAG Group.

Japan and South Korea

Japan and South Korea also offer considerable potential for SAG: the high population density makes it necessary to live together in a very small area. As a result, environmental awareness is growing in these technologically highly developed markets – and the willingness to invest in climate-friendly equipment in the automotive sector – such as NLG tanks – as well as in the expansion of rail transport with a view to reducing CO2 emissions. The equipping of rail vehicles with, among other things, high-pressure tanks for brake systems is a lucrative business field for SAG in addition to the automotive sector.

With the new rheocasting line, SAG has developed a top technology for all sensitive areas of application in which maximum weight reduction and – as with high-pressure containers and cryotechnique tanks, e.g. for laboratories – a solid construction is required. The company is thus well positioned for the development of interesting new business areas.
