SAG and KTM motorcycles: a long-standing partnership continues

Vienna, 29 April 2018: Alutech Slowakei s.r.o., the Slovakian subsidiary of the Salzburg Aluminium Group (SAG), equips KTM AG with exhaust silencer housings. In total, more than 55,000 silencer housings will be produced over the next five years for the new generation of “KTM 390 Duke” motorcycles. The high-quality aluminium solutions produced in lightweight construction will be manufactured as part of a special products order with KTM Components GmbH – part of the KTM Group.

Hannes Rest, press spokesman of SAG, comments: “The KTM motorcycle stands for a low weight, which is further reduced by our special aluminium solution”. Thanks to the optimal processing technology, the feather-light weight and the power, which the “KTM 390 Duke” is known for, can be guaranteed. The quality of the SAG product and the delivery quality of the traditional Salzburg company were also the basis for the decision of the KTM Group to continue its more than 20 years of reliable cooperation.

Lower weight due to optimum processing

Remarkable with this silencer housing are the very thin material, the lightweight construction and the space optimization. The product is manufactured by aluminum extrusion technology. With this special processing method, the aluminium is continuously pressed into the desired shape at high temperature and under pressure. The advantage of this method is above all the possibility of producing very complicated shapes.

The KTM motorcycle combines maximum driving pleasure with optimum utility value and is superior everywhere. These characteristics make it a perfect partner for SAG.

Slovakia: Competence centre for custom-made products

The Slovakian location of the Austrian family business Salzburger Aluminium Group is the worldwide competence centre for special productions. It is responsible for the product strategy at all global production sites of SAG, where special products are manufactured. “Our aim is to bundle the know-how in our competence centres and at the same time transfer it to other plants. This will increase quality, performance and efficiency for our customers worldwide,” says Hannes Rest.
